Getting There:

Visa and Entry Requirements:

  • Check the visa requirements for your country. Many nationalities can get a free tourist visa on arrival.
  • Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your planned departure date.

Visa information for Mauritian Passport Holders:

  • The visa on arrival is valid for 30 days from the date of entry.
  • There is a 10-day grace period for extension.
  • If extended, the total validity would be 60 days from the date of entry.
  • Passports should be normal and valid for more than six months.
  • This is a multi-entry visa. The visa holder can consume the 30-day validity regardless of whether they are inside or outside the UAE – days spent outside the UAE are calculated from the 40-day validity of the visa.

Currency:

 The currency used in Dubai is the United Arab Emirates Dirham (AED). Credit cards are widely accepted, and ATMs are readily available.

-Arabic is the official language, but English is widely spoken, especially in tourist areas.

Weather:

– Dubai has a desert climate, with hot summers and mild winters.

– Summer (April to September) can be scorching, with temperatures exceeding 40°C (104°F).

– Winter (November to March) offers pleasant, cooler weather, making it the peak tourist season.

Local Culture:

– Dress modestly in public places. While beachwear is acceptable at resorts and beaches, more conservative clothing is appreciated elsewhere.

– Taxis are widely available and reasonably priced.

– Apps like Careem and Uber are a convenient way arrange for transportation

– Dubai is considered one of the safest cities in the world. However, it’s always essential to be aware of your surroundings and follow local laws.

– In case of emergencies, dial 999 for police, ambulance, or fire services.

Time Zone:

– Dubai is in the Gulf Standard Time (GST) zone, which is UTC+4.
